Paper Topic

Ok so I have two ideas (thesis ideas) for my paper, but I'm not quite sure which topic would produce the best paper:

1. Throughout One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Kesey uses the black boys to metaphorically represent Nurse Ratched's suppressed rage.
2. Not really a thesis, but I was also considering writing about how both McMurphy and Nurse Rached easily manipulate Dr. Spivey to create shifts in power between Rached and the patients.

I have texual evidence to support both, but I dont really know how the second idea would come together.
