Ignatius' desire for control related to Valve
Throughout the book, we've seen Ignatius' valve come in and out of play many times. Usually, his valve closes up when he feels out of place or uncomfertable, but after reading chapter 10, I think that statement needs to be re-evaluated. There is a point in chapter 10 when Ignatius is talking about his mother, and how impossible she is to hande. Ignatius states that his health conditions are declining because "it was becoming impossible to control her", which he said about his mother. After this, it made me realize that whenever he is in a situation where is valve is opened, he is in a situation that he can easily control or manipulate someone. For example, his valve opens up when he is working at Levy Pants because Ignatius can easily control and manipulate Mr. Gonzales. Another instance where his valve is opened is when he starts working for Paradise Vendors, where he can easily control the owner.
