Animals and Ignatius
In the chapter 10 reading, I found more references to animals and Ignatius. Many of the references were coming from the gay man Dorian Greene, referring to Ignatius multiple times as a" revolting beast"(250) and a "terrible animal"(249). Refences to Ignatius's "blue and yellow"eyes and "paws" also appeared in chapter 10. The repition of animal charcteristics made me question the use of animals in this book. It is obvious that Toole is specifically creating a parrallel between animals and Ignatius, yet the reason why he does this is still unanswered. I was wondering if anyone had any additional input onto why Toole creates this parallel, and what message he is trying to convey through these references.
